Welcome Students

Welcome students,

If this is your first semester with us at Harrington, we are pleased you decided to pursue your goal of becoming a designer or photographer with us.  If you are a returning student, welcome back, we are pleased you have decided to continue your studies.  Harrington is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year and we are looking forward to a terrific twelve months.

I wanted to bring a few things to your attention as you start a new year:

  • Honor Code – This marks the first semester Harrington has a formal honor code.  During the first week of each class this semester, and in the future, you will review the plagiarism policy and honor code and sign and return the acknowledgment.  More information can be found on the portal if you would like to read about it in detail, but essentially an honor code is important as it establishes the basis of conduct within the academic environment and as honorable behavior is expected of you, you can expect it of our faculty and staff as well.
  • NSSE – Harrington will conduct the National Survey of Student Engagement again this spring – roughly from late February through early March. This longitudinal study helps us measure engagement and continue to demonstrate that we are committed to continuously improving the college.  More information is forthcoming, but I wanted to thank you in advance for your participation.
  • Satisfactory Academic Progress – We have made some important changes to the satisfactory academic process (SAP) effective with the beginning of this semester.  While the changes won’t impact you until the conclusion of the semester, I wanted to let you know that information will be posted to the portal soon that you should review at your convenience.

We have several interesting projects, opportunities, events, and developments to share with you, but for now, enjoy settling into the semester and starting your classes.  Again, welcome to the Spring semester.  We are happy you are here.  If there is anything you would like to discuss with me, please don’t hesitate to make contact.
