Ronald McDonald House Charities

Can you lend a helping hand?  Ronald McDonald Charities needs Harrington’s help with toys, games and books for all ages, as well as travel size shampoo and conditioner to replenish the gift closet for guests staying in the Ronald McDonald House while their love ones receive medical care at the hospital.

Each child is allowed to choose two gifts from the gift closet on their birthday and holidays.  Can you help make a child’s stay a little more enjoyable by donating a toy, game or book?

To date, we have one Xerox box filled with various materials; however, I know we can do better. Can you take this challenge?  Instead of purchasing one of your daily treats such as Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Cupcakes, or daily snack-purchase one gift for the Ronald McDonald House.  Just imagine how HAPPY we can make a child who needs our support.  Donations are being taken until the end of  July 2010.

Drop off locations are the 2nd floor reception desk, 4th floor SLIK space and outside the 5th floor ILS or better yet, you can leave your donations at my desk on the 2nd or 6th floors.

Thanks in advance for your support and kindness,

Month at the Museum – Be a Part of Museum History!

The Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago is looking for “you.” And by “you,” we mean an adventurous, outgoing person with a strong interest in learning about science and the world around her or him, plus the ability to write very well about your experiences. Ideally, you’re also the web-savvy sort who can keep your thumb out of frame when taking photographs. If that “you” sounds like you, or if you are simply curious about this intriguing endeavor, then you should read on.

We’re looking for someone to take on a once-in-a-lifetime assignment: spend a Month at the Museum, to live and breathe science 24/7 for 30 days. From October 20 to November 18, 2010, this person’s mission will be to experience all the fun and education that fits in this historic 14-acre building, living here full-time and reporting your findings to the outside world.

Sure, it’s a commitment. But if you are chosen and can successfully complete the Month at the Museum, you’ll walk away with a prize of $10,000, a package of tech gadgets, an honorary lifetime membership to MSI, and new knowledge and experiences that may just transform you.
